What usually burns out in seconds is reimagined as a lasting object that plays with scale, time, and permanence. Each oversized ceramic matchstick begins as wet clay, shaped by hand and left to dry before entering the kiln for a firing cycle that lasts nearly two days. It is then glazed and fired again resulting in their unique shape and finish.

About Noa Raviv
Noa Raviv is an artist and designer based in New York. Through sculpture, textiles, and writing, she explores how materials and language store and transmit energy. Her work often begins with mundane objects or gestures and transforms through repetition, distortion, and layering. Body functions such as breathing, leaking, pulsing, heating, and breaking down, shape the logic of the work.

Please note that each matchstick is unique, images are for reference. If you prefer a more or less "burned" version, please add a comment in the order note section.
