Fishin’ for Average Caucasian Boyfriends

  • $60.00

By Jackie Liu

Fishin’ for Average Caucasian Boyfriends is a semi-autobiographical Game Boy game about expectations, queerness, and the possibility of dreaming bigger. Based on a true conversation the artist had with her mom at a seafood restaurant, the game allows players to make the choice to fish–or not. What if we refuse to play the game? This game was developed as part of FREEPLAY!, a queer video games exhibit based in Richmond, Virginia.

Jackie Liu is an artist and digital designer who makes playful, narrative work that blends websites, interface design, comics, and games. Often drawing upon her experiences growing up alongside the 2000s web, her work remembers and reimagines technology to experiment with new ways of relating with herself, others, and technology.
