Self began her Bodega Run project in 2017, exploring small family run corner stores that are synonymous with New York City life. Beyond stocking everyday grocery items, bodegas are spaces where local communities meet, and create local economies. Bodegas are where New Yorkers get a ham, egg and cheese for breakfast, a chopped cheese for lunch, and beer after work, maybe with a loosie.
