Raymond Pettibon: Surfers 1985 Are Your Motives Pure?
Greatly inspired by the presences of surfers throughout his work, Raymond Pettibon’s book Raymond Pettibon: Surfers 1985-2015 showcases work centered around majestic long boarders in the mist of catching challenging waves within the ocean. The images are accompanied by Pettibon’s signature quotes and portions of poetry that are created in his script. First printed in 2014, the revised and expanded edition immediately sold out and features 20 additional images, a new jacket covering, and updated color separations. The book also features the artist’s early small-scale monochromatic India ink drawings and many illustrations in color from the 1990s. Lastly the book is a mediation through writer Carlo McCormick and commences with Pettibon’s recent large scale works created on walls directly.
