How do I edit or remove an item from my shopping basket?
Go to the Cart, which you’ll see throughout your shopping experience in our utility navigation to access the items in your Shopping Basket.  To edit an item, you simply enter the QTY you would like directly beside each product. Any items in your Shopping Basket may be removed by clicking the ‘remove link’ below the product image, which will dynamically remove that item from your cart.


Why do I no longer see an item I placed in my basket?
Much of the New Museum’s product is created exclusively for the New Museum in collaboration with artists, designers, and vendors. If an item is classified as a Limited Edition, this means limited quantities are produced. If a product no longer has quantity available it will be immediately removed from our online store. Items you place in your shopping basket will remain there until they are purchased or removed.  As product availability is not guaranteed until items are purchased, it is possible for an item to become unavailable while it’s in your shopping basket. If an item goes out of stock, you will have to remove it from your cart. We will also remove items that remain in your shopping basket for more than 30 days. 


How do I redeem a discount or Promo Code?
If you have a Promo Code, there are 2 places where you are able to apply it prior to submitting your order. Within the Cart, click the “Have a Promo Code?” arrow, enter the requested information, and click ‘Apply.’ You also have the opportunity to apply a Promo Code directly in the checkout in step 5 by directly entering the code and clicking ‘Apply.’ Please be sure to read our Privacy and Terms for all terms and exclusions pertaining to a Promo Code before redeeming it, including expiration dates, combination rules, and eligible products.

In the event you do not have a Promo Code, Members of the New Museum receive 10% off every day and 20% off during Member Shopping Events, which serves as a thank-you to our patrons and supporters. Learn more about becoming a New Museum Member today to receive 10 – 20% off.

What payment methods are accepted by the New Museum?
At our online store, we accept the following credit cards issued in the United States:

At our physical store located in the New Museum’s lobby at 235 Bowery, New York, NY 10002, we also accept payment by

  • · Pre-orders; for select products, when available, we are able to reserve quantities prior to receipt of shipments from our vendors.

Is it safe for me to pay by credit card over the Internet?
Yes. The New Museum utilizes industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology. SSL encodes your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, as it travels over the Internet so that all transactions are secure. If you prefer, you may also place an order with our staff at the New Museum store in an order by phone at 212.343.0460.


When am I charged for my online purchase?
Only one credit card may be used per transaction. Your credit card will not be charged until the items in your order are shipped. In some cases, because not all items may ship together, you may see more than one charge on your credit card. 

When attempting to place an order on newmuseumstore.org, a temporary authorization may be placed on your credit card. Please be assured, this is not an actual charge and this authorization hold will be removed within 48 hours of your items being shipped. It is up to your credit card issuing bank as to when the authorization hold drops off.

For your security, your billing name, address, and phone number must match that of the credit card used for payment. We reserve the right to cancel any order that does not match these criteria.


How does Apple Pay work?

Apple Pay is an easy way for customers to pay at our physical store located in the lobby of the New Museum at 235 Bowery, New York, NY 10002.  Unfortunately, it is not available as a payment method at our online store. 

Sales Tax

Is tax applied to orders placed online?
All orders shipped to a New York State address will incur a sales tax of 8.875% except for apparel items, which are exempt under the threshold of $110. Please note that tax calculations are based on state and county locations of your shipping address. At checkout, all appropriate taxes will be added to your order.



Does the New Museum offer gift services?
The New Museum has created a signature gift-wrap of our iconic SANAA architected building located at 235 Bowery, New York, NY 10002. To have your items wrapped, select ‘Add Gift Wrap’ within Step 4 – Gift Options of the Checkout.


Gift Message
A complimentary gift message can be included with any order at no charge. When you are within Step 4 – Gift Options of the Checkout, select the ‘Include a Gift Message’ button and you’ll be able to type your message. Your gift message will be handwritten by our staff.

Complimentary gift receipts are included in all orders where Gift Options are selected at Checkout.

Is my New Museum membership tax deductible?
Yes, depending on the type(s) of membership purchased, your membership may be 90 - 100% tax deductible. Please visit our Become A Member to learn more.

Although every purchase at the New Museum store supports the New Museum’s programming, purchases of merchandise are not tax deductible.


How do I redeem my membership discount online?
In order to redeem your New Museum membership discount you must be logged in, which requires creating an account at newmuseumstore.org.  In addition to being able to redeem your discount an account will also allow:

  • · Faster Checkout: Securely save your addresses and billing information for a super-fast checkout (think the express line at Whole Foods)
  • · Order History: Receive important information regarding your purchase, and track your order up to the moment it arrives. You may also view or print the details of all your past orders.
  • · Be the First. Exclusive Access: Sign up to receive our newsletter, Limited Edition artist collaborations, and private sales.


Create Your Account
Simply click “LOGIN” at the top of every page or create an account during the checkout process. When creating an account, we ask you for just a few pieces of information:

  • · Your first and last name
  • · Your ten digit Membership Number, located directly above the barcode, on the back of your card
  • · Your email address, which will serve as your newmuseumstore.org user name
  • · Your password that only you have access to; the password must be 7 - 20 characters long and include at least 1 letter and 1 number

Once you have set up your account, it is easy to change your account details or to add additional preferences (addresses, payment methods, etc.) at any time. Simply click “LOGIN” at the top of every web page on newmuseumstore.org. If you are already signed in, click the Hi {first name} welcome message in our utility navigation, above the Shopping Cart and follow the link to “my account.”


What if I forgot my password?
