Raymond Pettibon is well-known for his comic-like drawing on paper, punctuated by witty and ironic captions. His work gives life to a range of experiences, from the everyday, to sublime experiences in nature, to the violent and anti-authoritarian. This towel features one of Pettibon's well-recognized motifs, the surfer in a state of bliss, coasting down a giant blue wave.

This towel is part of the Artist Towel Series 2009 sponsored by TargetŪ with Art Production Fund. The series is part of WOW (Works on Whatever), a unique collection of everyday items designed by artists to bring art off the walls and into homes. This year's series features 60x70 inch cotton towels designed by acclaimed artists Ed Ruscha, Raymond Pettibon, and Karen Kilimnik.
