Often associated with his founding role in the Conceptual art movement of the 1960s, New York-based Lawrence Weiner creates artworks that are ideas—often materials, movements, or transitions—that he sets out in language. At once a realist and a romantic, Weiner works in language because it allows his pieces to travel easily and be subject to personal interpretation. Weiner's migratory and fluid artworks are an ideal complement to the bicycle, in itself an egalitarian symbol of both independence and social recreation.

Exclusively for the New Museum Store, this edition is created with a Pashley bicycle that has been customized with hand-painted artwork and decals, designed by Lawrence Weiner. For over eighty years Pashley has been and continues to hand-build bicycles in Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom.
